NDP Newsletter – July 2024

Hi There,

I hope you all had a relaxing and happy Canada Day!

Welcome to our month of July NDP newsletter.

We have a busy month ahead. We will be hosting tables at local events. We can use volunteers to greet the public and pass out flyers and “swag”. Please call me or write to me if you can help. Otherwise, in place of a meet and greet this month please stop by and introduce yourself if you are at these events. It would be nice to meet you! Information below.

Local news:

On May 30th the SDSG/Cornwall chapter of the Ontario Health Coalition staged a rally in front of Nolan Quinn’s office, urging the Ontario Government to stop the privatization of healthcare and restore public healthcare services. Approximately 40 people attended the event, showing strong community support for the cause. This gathering was part of a province-wide initiative, with similar demonstrations occurring across Ontario. If you would like a lawn sign to show your support, please contact Elaine MacDonald at 613-330-3117 or Louise Lanctot at 613-932-1943

On June 19, the Social Development Council held a very successful Senior Fair. You can find a list of exhibitors for more information at: https://sdccornwall.ca/2024seniorfair/

Online Training for Election Readiness:

The NDP is offering online training sessions in case we have an early election. This is available to all our members.

Message from NDP: ”As we get ready for a possible election call in the fall, the party is putting on a full calendar of training sessions for the summer. Sign up for anything you think would be helpful and please circulate to volunteers and Riding Association folks you think might be interested.” If you haven’t worked on a campaign before this could be useful!
